Intel had already announced plans to introduce its quad-core chips in Q4, 2006 and now we have the first firm dates as Hewlett-Packard will be the first vendor to offer the chip on November 13.

The Hewlett-Packard workstations will be the first computers to run on Intel's quad-core processors, now known as Xeon 5300. This early introduction of the quad core chip is even more impressive when considering that rival AMD will not feature a quad-core processor until Q2, 2007. AMD claims that its native quad-core design is superior to Intel's technique of connecting two dual-cores in one chip. Those claims however, cannot be verified until both processors can be compared in real-world conditions.

Intel's quad-core processors will not be available for mainstream desktops until Q1 2007 when the Core 2 Quad chip is launched. Gamers will also get their own quad-core version in the shape of the Core 2 Extreme, a processor expected to ship soon.

This upcoming January, the Volvo Cars Corporation would soon be introducing and unveiling their newest compact sports utility vehicle. This big event would be done during the Detroit Motor Show. According to sources, the new compact SUV bears the name XC60 instead of the XC50. Taking a look at the new Volvo XC60, experts have agreed that this one looks just like the Volvo XC90, only much smaller. But still, it is quite large compared to the current Toyota RAV 4 model. This new vehicle that would be competing with the likes of the Lexus RX, BMW X3, Mercedes Benz GLK Class, and the Acura RDX. Volvo made sure that this vehicle is going to be a good performer off and on the road so the company equipped the vehicle with quality Volvo auto parts. And this would be quite a new one for Volvo. Compared to the upcoming Volvo V70 and the XC70 estate crossover sport utility vehicle, this Volvo XC60 can take on the challenge of rough and off roads. The company further informs the public that the new Volvo XC60 would be mounted with engines just like those that are used on the Land Rover Freelander. Speculations have it that this new vehicle would be coming with a 3.2 liter inline six engine or the Ford PSA diesel engine. But what is sure is that this SUV would be mounted with the Haldex four wheel drive system. This system would be the same one to be used in the upgraded XC70 and all other Volvos that have an all wheel drive. According to the company, the Volvo XC60 is actually one vehicle that has been created and designed using the S80 platform of the auto manufacturer. But you see, this same platform would soon be used by the upcoming midsized vehicle models from Ford, Mazda, Mercury, and even Lincoln. Previously, rumors were rounding the industry that the Volvo XC60 would be using the C1 platform instead which is currently being used by vehicles like the Volvo C30, Volvo S40, Volvo V50, Mazda3, Ford C-Max, and the Ford Focus.
